DCAN was formed in 1999 by a group of residential and commercial subcontractors to research what we have come to understand as Joint Ridging and Centerline Cracking in large spanning walls and ceilings. DCAN’s research on this topic has greatly assisted home builders in mitigating these problems in new residential construction.

Because of our success on the Joint Ridging and Cracking issue, DCAN has continued working with home builders, general contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, other industry trade associations, and state agencies to provide valuable information and expertise related to drywall finishing and painting for the past 20+ years. DCAN provides this expertise and information through:

Publications:

These publications are divided into three key categories and available free of charge for download.

Specification – Items to consider incorporating in your scope of work and subcontracts for drywall and paint.

Job Schedule – items explaining how the work should flow once started for optimal quality and cost management.

Evaluation Guidelines – Items explaining evaluation guidelines and other back-end issues per industry standards and how to best explain and manage these costs.
